High School Students Strike Over Man U-Liverpool Match

October 26, 2021

Students at the Kirimara Boys High school in Nyeri county went on strike on Sunday night after they were denied a chance to watch the match between Manchester United and Liverpool.

Area Chief Ephraim Wathua said the learners also complained that the hall where they watch soccer had been converted into a dormitory to house students during the pandemic.

The chief said the students also wanted to go on mid-term break saying the weeks they will stay in school for the third term are too many.

The students went on a rampage and destroyed property of unknown value, forcing the school administration to call officers from the nearby Karatina police station.

During the engagement with police, most of the students escaped from school and returned Monday morning.

The school management closed the institution until further notice.
