A middle-aged man has lost his lower lip after it was bit off by his wife following a domestic disagreement in Narok County.
Benson Onsongo, 34, said the spat started when his 27-year-old wife told him that she wanted to visit her parents in Kisii County.
Speaking from his hospital bed at the Narok County Referral Hospital, Mr Onsongo said he asked his wife to postpone the trip as he raised money for her transport fare but she threatened to commit suicide.
On Monday evening while he was at work, Mr. Onsongo was informed that his wife was about to end her life by jumping into a nearby river.
Onsongo said he rushed to the scene and managed to talk her out of it. However, on their way back home, the wife pounced on him and bit off his lower lip.
She also bit him in the hand and abdomen. Mr. Onsongo was rushed to Talek Health Center for first aid before being transferred to the County Referral Hospital on Tuesday for further treatment.
A nurse at the facility, identified as Priscilla Mwarigi, told Citizen Digital that Mr. Onsongo was recovering well but his lower lip was completely bitten off.
