Kenyan songbird Habida Maloney has unleashed the visuals to her single dubbed ‘Searching.’
Habida, who relocated to Kenya early last year after a three-year stint in South Africa, has been busy as she makes her comeback.
Last February, she teamed up with Ghanaian crooner JTown to release ‘Sweet Love’, a poem to her family, Kenya, and the music industry.
A few months later, she bagged herself a big collabo with Nigeria’s ‘Iyanya’ and released ‘African Man.’
After spending 2017 planning, recording, and rebranding, she has decided to start off the year in an unapologetic way. ‘Searching’ is the first part of a trilogy “The Journey to I AM”.
“I AM” for Habida is about being her true self. Being comfortable as well as enjoying her journey, mistakes, failings, and embracing her successes.
The trilogy is a musical description of her journey through music, love, and life. Habida’s narrative this year is, “I have done it for the music industry, my fans and everyone else, but this time I do it for the fulfillment of my purpose and my true self”, in essence allowing her fans into the real her!
Habida also has a new sound which she has been looking for since the beginning. Qura Mark Rankin and Habida worked tirelessly on the I AM-EP and more between L.A and Nairobi, flying back and forth. Qura started off Habida’s career in 1998 when she was 17 years old and now as life would have it, they have gone full circle and worked together again after all these years to produce Magic!
Qura Mark Ranking is a Grammy-winning British record and mixing engineer and music producer, who began his career in 2004 as a house engineer at The Exchange studios. He is a frequent collaborator of music producer Paul Epworth. Rankin’s credits include critically acclaimed albums by Adele, Queens of the Stone Age, Foster the People, Florence and the Machine and Bloc Party.
Habida is planning to take her new sound and truthful music to whoever will listen across the globe starting with Kenya. She will also have her first solo concert on Valentines Day in conjunction with Industry night.
