Kawira Suffers Miscarriage After Getting Battered by Husband

Justa Kawira has lost her baby days after her sad plight made headlines in the country. The 22 year old was the victim of domestic violence, inflicted by her husband on February 1.
A video showing the moment Justa was battered by her husband, John Wachira, went viral on social media resulting in public uproar. Justa was admitted at Langata Hospital, where she is not only nursing her bruises but mourning the loss of her baby. She was 6 months pregnant.
According to reports, this is the second time the mother of two has suffered a miscarriage from her husband’s violence. Wachira is alleged to have stabbed her in the stomach in a previous incident, and she lost her pregnancy.
In court on Monday, John Wachira was was allowed to leave police custody. The Star reports that city magistrate Miriam Mugure said that an application by police to hold him for three more days to complete investigations, lacked merit.
Kawira is also yet to fill a P3 form to assist with the case.
It is not clear when Wachira will be charged.
