Another chilling case of domestic violence has surfaced sending social media users into shock, anger and heartbreak.
Renown activist and photojournalist Boniface Mwangi on Wednesday brought the saddening story to light on his Facebook page. He shared a video showing the moment a woman and her husband get in a verbal fight that soon turns physical.
The husband is seen slapping her before dragging her across the floor and into the house. Moments later, the lady steps out with blood flowing over her face.
What’s more shocking is that bystanders watched as the incident unfolded without helping.
According to Boniface, the lady is 6 months pregnant and currently admitted at Langata Hospital.
The man was arrested but later released because the victim refused to press charges.
Boniface’s post read;
“She was assaulted by her husband in the presence of her neighbours. She was dragged in the house while bystanders watched without helping and the images that follow after she is dragged into the house are horrific,she is bleeding. The man beating is her husband and she is a silent domestic violence victim. Her neighbours are silent too. This man would have killed her and the neighbours wouldn’t have lifted a finger. The man was arrested but released after the victim refused to press charges. She is six months pregnant, afraid,jobless and currently admitted at Langata Hospital. I’m sharing this video with permission from her and her dad. #TeamCourage“
