A man from Sailoo Village in Chepcholiet, Londiani Sub-County, Kericho County, has been arrested on suspicion of impregnating his 18-year-old daughter.
Geoffrey Langat, 58, is suspected to have been in a sexual relationship with his daughter since the death of his wife in July, 2017.
Confirming the arrest, Chepchoilet assistant chief Stephen Korir said the man had threatened his daughter with dire consequences should she not sleep with him.
When villagers got wind of the incestuous relationship in February 2018, the suspect fled his home.
He returned home on Monday, April 16, when he was confronted by his 22-year-old son for impregnating the teenager.
The girl was seven months pregnant when her brother, who had been away from home, made the discovery.
After the confrontation, the suspect is said to have threatened to harm his son with crude weapons and an arrow.
Neighbours, who heard a distress call by the suspect’s son, rushed to the scene, where they captured the man and handed him over to officers at Chepseon Police Station.
Langat is in police custody as investigations into the matter continue.
