Government Bans Blockbuster Movie ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ in Kenya

wolfThe Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB), has this week banned one of the biggest Hollywood film this year, The Wolf of Wall Street’. Ms Redempta Amondi of the board says that the film was banned following an independent review. She says that it contains among others, explicit sexual content and abuse of drugs.
On Facebook, KFCB wrote, “There is a LIMIT to everything and we believe the Kenyan public deserves better. WOLF OF WALL STREET has been RESTRICTED. The film is NOT for sale, exhibition or distribution in KENYA. Violators shall be PROSECUTED.”

The film is  based on Jordan Belfort’s memoir of the same name. It was released on December 25, 2013. The screenplay was written by Terence Winter, and the film stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Belfort, a New York stockbroker who runs a firm that engages in securities fraud and corruption on Wall Street in the 1990s.
With an 8.7 rating on IMDB, The Wolf of Wall Street runs for 3  hours.
With these developments, you should not expect to see it in any theatre in Kenya.
