Roots Party of Kenya deputy presidential candidate Justina Wamae has taken a defiant stance against the summons issued by her party leader Prof George Wajackoyah.
On Monday, August 22, 2022, Wajackoyah summoned Wamae to appear before Roots Party and face disciplinary action for ridiculing the party and endorsing their opponent, President-elect William Ruto.
“We have been instructed by the party leader Prof. George Wajackoyah as the party leader, your current utterance both in mainstream and social media for a disciplinary hearing,” Roots party legal director Washika Wachira wrote in a demand letter.
“It is in our knowledge that you have continuously disassociated yourself with the party and its ideologies. You have associated yourself with our opponents and advocated for their ideologies.”
Justina Wamae is required to appear at the party’s head office on Friday, August 26, but it appears this won’t be happening.
In a rejoinder, Wamae rubbished the summons as pettiness, and the allegations against her as non-existent and imagined.
“I will not respond to pettiness. But on the non-existent accommodation and car you imagined you ‘assisted’ me with you can withdraw in your dreams. It is your party do what you deem fit, I will soldier on,” Justina wrote on Twitter.
