Towering member of Kenya’s Afropop boy band Sauti Sol, Bien Aime, is set to wed his fiancee Chiki Kuruka this year.
The 31-year-old vocalist and guitarist asked for Chiki’s hand in marriage in a superb proposal in February this year. The surprise marriage proposal played out at the Westgate Mall in Nairobi.
Bien recalled the events leading to the intimate proposal saying, “I had previously told some of my girlfriend’s family members and her close friends to do a video saying why they love her.”
“Every one of them said a beautiful thing about her, and I made a collage video from their videos,” added Bien.
Chiki’s close friend lied to her that she was having issues with her boyfriend and wanted Chiki to be present when they reconcile. They later proceeded to the cinema hall to watch a movie that turned out to be a proposal.
“It was dark so she could not see where we were seated. The movie started and the first video that appeared was from her father, followed by the other videos of her friends. And that is when I walked over,” Bien said.

Bien says he is looking forward to his wedding later this year.
“I will be having the wedding but about the progress, I have left my fiancée to do the planning. I can’t avoid one because I love this lady so much.”
