First in East Africa! King Kaka Named Remy Martin Campaign Ambassador

August 31, 2018

Kenyan rapper Kennedy Ombima, popularly known as King Kaka and formerly Kaka Sungura, just can’t stop winning.

The high-flying rapper is the new face of a global campaign by Premium cognac brand Rémy Martin titled, “One Life. Live Them.” He was unveiled on Wednesday as the campaign was being launched in Kenya for the first time.

The rapper was selected for his multifaceted embodiment as a rapper, a poet, and humanitarian.

Rémy Martin Africa marketing manager Alvin Saal said in partnering with King Kaka, they could not have found a more inspiring gentleman.

“We want to inspire people to explore their many talents and diverse interests, instead of simply being defined by a single path.”

“He[King Kaka] is someone who truly embodies the concept of being defined not just by one thing, but by many. He was selected because of the range of experiences he has and the exceptional accomplishments he has achieved,” Saal said.

Kaka is the founder of several initiatives that touch on topical issues, such as gender violence through the Dreams Campaign, and youth marginalisation under the ‘Tubonge’ (let’s talk) programme.

He recently did a countrywide Sanitary Bank Initiative that has earned him a speaking opportunity at the 2018 Goalkeepers Conference in New York by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

In his speech, King Kaka said: “We are here to build. Don’t hold back and don’t wait for success to come to you. We must dream big together and give back to the community that brings us up. Together we can go far. So do big things and go for it. Don’t be afraid to fail, because only by learning these lessons can we succeed.”

Taking to social media, King Kaka was sure to mention that he is the first artiste in the region to land the deal.

“Good news! Another win, The 1st in East Africa, King Kaka, Remy Martin Ambassador for One Life, Live Them, Premium Meets Premium. I am not defined by the one thing I do, but all that I do. I am Musician. Poet. Humanitarian. Why be one thing when you can be many. You only get one life. Live them. #KingKakaOneLife,” King Kaka wrote.

This has been a big week for King Kaka after his daughter, Gweth Awiti, was declared the Marini Kids brand ambassador days after the launch of the new natural hair products.

Marini Naturals founder and CEO Michelle Ntalami made the announcement on her Instagram confirming the deal.

A big congratulations to @gwethgeezy for being our second girl brand ambassador! She is just cuteness overload and always camera-ready and perfectly strikes any pose! I love her energy, her warm personality and her sweet charm. Perfect as a Marini Kids Ambassador!”
