Police are questioning a man who claimed he was among the gunmen who killed two police officers in Kibichoi, Kiambu County last week.
The suspect, Thomas Audi, went to the Christ is the Answer Ministries (Citam) in Ngong town on Monday and requested the pastors to accompany him to the police station as he wanted to confess.
He was handed over to police and taken into custody for grilling into the claims.
“He gave his side of the story but we have to investigate the authenticity of these claims. We have handed him over to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, DCI Officers in Kiambu, who have been investigating the matter,” Ngong OCPD George Seda said.
According to the police, the suspect has since named a number of suspects into the incident that happened last Friday.
The two policemen, Constables Martin Irungu and Paul Maina of Kibichoi Police Post, were ambushed by four gunmen while patrolling at Miti Kenda area on foot and sprayed with bullets.
The gunmen pumped four bullets into each of the officers and robbed them of an AK-47 rifle before they jumped on waiting motorcycles and rode off.
The incident was reported by a motorist who was driving along Kibichoi- Gathage road at 1.45 pm.
