Yesterday, it was announced that newspapers will cost Sh60 up from Sh50 starting today. This is as a result of the VAT bill taking effect.
The whole day Tuesday, the hash tag #Gazetiya60 was trending, as Kenyans humorously explored reasons why a newspaper would cost that expensive.
The irony in all that was the fact that most of those participating are in the generation that gets all their news from Twitter.
