Kenya has been ranked the 4th fastest country to surf the internet in Africa, after Ghana. According to tests done by netindex ( an internet speeds monitoring company ), between Feb 6, 2012 and Mar 6, 2012, Kenya has an average speed of 4.88 megabytes per second. The tests were from 58,403 unique IP addresses. Coming at number 3 is Angola with Rwanda and South Africa completing the top 5.

Kenya Education Network has been named the fastest isp in Kenya, with Jamii Telecommunications Limited and Kenya Data Networks (KDN) appearing on the top 5. Safaricom ranks a distant 17th. 


Lithuania is the fastest country in the world followed closely by South Korea. Kenya ranks a decent number 76, well above high income countries like India, Argentina and Iran. The following is the list of the top 20 African countries, with their average internet speeds.
