If there is anything this year’s General Election has taught us, it is that many Kenyan politicians just don’t know when to take a loss. Losers such as Kidero, Wavinya Ndeti, Peter Munya, and the biggest of them all- Raila Odinga, are among the many candidates who have rejected the outcome of the results.

In some cases, the rejection of the results has turned to fists as evidenced by the drama caused by ODM parliamentary candidate for Lamu West, Rishad Hamid Ahmed.

Mr Rishad roughed up returning officer Abdalla Chikophe in an attempt to stop him from announcing the results of the election which had his opponent, Stanley Muthama, in the lead.

Results from IEBC put Mr Stanley Muthama in the lead with 11,090 votes followed by Mr Ahmed (10,950 votes).

According to Rishad, not all votes from various polling stations, especially those he considers to be in his strongholds, were tallied and that others had been wrongly calculated to favour the Maendeleo Chap Chap opponent.

“I swear to you that the winner can’t be announced at this moment. We have our right to be told exact things and not cooked issues.

“We have cross-checked and found out that there are so many mistakes in the forms.

“The tallying forms are wrongly filled,” Mr Ahmed said.

Nevertheless, Chikophe called the security officers to rescue the situation so that he could proceed with the announcement.
