An old photo of an Akorino couple kissing while locked in a passionate embrace re-surfaced online on Valentine’s Day, rippling lots of comments from social media users who felt that the way the two behaved was wrong in regard to the rules and laws of the religion. Differing opinions and mixed reactions were later raised after Kenyans dubbed the picture, Akorino Valentine’s Edition.
In case you didn’t know, the Akorino have a strict set of religious inhibitions that stipulate how they show affection, mostly when in public places. Body to body conduct is highly prohibited for single members of the opposite sex. In fact, speaking about the viral picture, a senior member of the church said, “they will be ex-communicated. They can come to church yes, but they will have to be reborn again after the period of ex-communication lapses. That normally takes three month.”
Opinionated Kenyans felt that the picture had a sexual angle to it since the man’s right hand was gripping his girlfriend’s butt. On the other hand, the lady appeared comfortable with her two arms wrapping around his bare-chested man’s waist.
Aye! Below is the picture that has caused a lot of buzz on social media. As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words, but this one could be a little more words than that. Check it out.
