The face of Mt. Kenya region is about to change once the dualling of the 84 kilometre Kenol to Marua road is complete.
The road will provide users at least 2 lanes on each side from the Capital Nairobi all the way to Marua, about 13 km from Nyeri town. It will link the current dual carriage that runs from Thika town to Kenol town, with Lot 1 of the project terminating in Sagana.
Lot 2 starts in Sagana and ends in Marua. Both of these lots are being built at the same time.
The road project will cost over 14 billion. One side of the dual carriage will first be completed, before being opened up for use while the other side is worked on.
Initially set to be completed in 2023, CS Macharia said that the road will now be completed in 2022.
YouTuber Afrikan Traveller took his drone to the stretch and produced this beautiful video of the progress.
