Lottoland Africa launches in Cameroon and Cote d’Ivoire

Lottoland, one of the largest online lottery operators in the world, is continuing with its African expansion.

This comes about 2 years after the company was granted licenses to operate in South Africa. Speaking then, CEO Nigel Birrell said, “We are pleased to have been granted these licences in South Africa. Lottoland now holds 12 regulated licences around the world – a great achievement for us and testament to us as a global brand and company.”

The new licenses will bring the total number of countries in which Lottoland operates to 14. The two are also the second and third countries that Lottoland holds a license for, in Africa.

Lottoland will allow users in the two nations to bet on the outcome of the biggest lotto draws in the world. For the first time, being physically present in the US for example, will no longer be a requirement for users to take part in the highly popular MegaMillions and PowerBall draws.

The same applies for EuroMillions and EuroJackpot, which they will be able to take part in without being in Europe.

Among other draws and lotteries Lottoland Africa users will be able to play are: French Lotto, Italy’s SuperEnalotto, UK’s Lotto X5, Polish Lotto, South African Powerball, Irish Lotto, UK’s Lotto Plus, and many more.

So, how is it possible to play the PowerBall without being in the US?

According to Lottoland, every win, big or small, is guaranteed to be paid out. “We can guarantee you will be paid out on your winnings – regardless of the jackpot amount,” a statement on the site reads.

They are able to accomplish this in two ways:

1. For smaller prize tier payments, they make the payment directly from the fund they have from the total ticket sales.

2. For larger prize tier payments, they take out insurance policies to cover the eventuality of a Jackpot win or a substantial payout on the Lotto bet. Part of the Lotto bet price you pay goes towards the payment of this policy.

Lottoland also offers a lot more, on top of lotteries. For instance, you can also find casino games, instant win games and scratch cards with top prizes of upto €1 million.

The company was established in 2013 and is based in Gibraltar – a worldwide hub for the online gaming industry.

It is regulated by the UK Gambling Commission, the Gibraltar Gambling Commission, and the Revenue Commissioners in Ireland.
