Willy Paul says Gloria Muliro is his spiritual mother despite his switch from gospel to secular music.
The Award-winning praise and worship singer introduced Willy Paul to the gospel industry when they collaborated on a song titled ‘Sitolia’.
Speaking in a live session with X-tian Dela, the controversial singer said the song transformed his life completely.
“Gloria Murilo is my spiritual mum to date,” he said.
Asked if she is happy with the direction his music has taken, Willy Pal said: “Your mum will raise you but when you grow up, they cannot control you but they remain your mum.”
Willy Paul recently released another collabo with Gloria Muliro dubbed ‘Wema’, raising fans’ eyebrows as to why the celebrated worship singer agreed to work with a secular singer. But Gloria explained that they did the song three years ago.
“I have been asked this question many times since the song was released. Let me make it clear, this is not a recent song. We recorded it a long time ago, about three years ago before Willy started doing the other songs (secular),” she said.
Willy Paul also explained that he stopped attending church after he was accused of tarnishing it.
“I pray for myself and stopped going to church after they said nachafua church. Acha nichafue kwangu,” he said.
