Chinese investors are set to unveil a Sh65 billion city in Machakos County, modelled after the glamorous Dubai. The mega plan that has the backing of at least 100 Asian investors is being fine tuned ahead of an anticipated visit by the Chinese Premier Li Keqiang to Kenya early next month, with the actual construction believed to begin later this year.
The project is styled as a Chinese controlled economic zone that will host corporates from the Asian giant and serve as its hub in the East African region. It is designed to incorporate at least 20 skyscrapers and is expected to be a shopping destination that is set to equal the splendour associated with the shopping city of Dubai.
Once complete the project known as Kenya-China Economic Zone has the potential to create 200,000 jobs according to Mr Qiu Yan of Multi-Win Holding Ltd.
