One of the musicians accused of spreading hate in his vernacular songs, Muigai wa Njoroge, was on Tuesday elected TNA Kiambu county chairman. The elections held at the Kiambu County Hall turned chaotic, when supporters of rival candidates disagreed on the venue.
William Kabogo’s supporters are said to have demanded to continue with the voting process only when a larger alternative venue was found. They argued that the hall was very small for the process to run smoothly. Shortly, the supporters for the rival aspirants started pushing and fighting. Kabogo’s people outnumbered Nyanja’s and Nyoro’s, both of whom are vying for the governorship. It became too much and police had to be brought in.
The elections were finally held and Muigai wa Njoroge, who was in Kabogo’s camp, was voted chairman.
The artiste was in June this year in the spotlight following allegations that he, alongside 2 other Kikuyu artistes, were spreading hate in their music. He was accused of hate speech in his song, ‘Hague Bound’, where he allegedly attacked Raila and his community in a not so ‘gentleman’ way.
