A man was today arrested with two hand grenades as he tried to access Nakuru Agricultural Showground. It is reported that police became suspicious of the man during the mandatory screening at the entrance.
“He is being interrogated, we don’t know what his mission was,” a police officer said.
The suspect was briefly held at the Nakuru Police Station but was later brought to Nairobi for further interrogation by the Anti Terrorism Police Unit.
After the arrest, more police officers were brought in to secure the venue.

Capital fm is reporting that police had received a tip off in the morning, of a man armed with grenades and had been looking for him. The police believe that the man traveled to Nakuru on Wednesday night and spent at a local hotel.

It is not clear whether the motive of the man was to harm the president, but that is a big possibility. The police however remain tight lipped. They have even denied any knowledge of an armed man getting arrested.
Nakuru police boss, Johnston Ipara said, “If there was anything like that, I would have been the first person to know as the host Officer Commanding Police Division,”

Rift Valley police boss, Francis Munyambu, also denied the reports. This is despite several eye witnesses been present.
