US-based Kenyan gospel musician Isaac Bukasa, who is popularly known by his stage name Izzo, has joined the US army.

The former husband of award-winning gospel singer Eunice Njeri announced that he was officially a soldier in June of this year. He, however, noted that he is still undertaking training and will officially join the military in August 2019.

Izzo, who resides in Virginia, said he plans to officially report to his first unit based in Texas.

“So I’m still in Virginia right now at AIT taking classes for my MOS after that probably by the end of August I will be done and go to Texas so I can report to my first unit where I will be working,” he said.

He has also been sharing a few photos of him dressed in military regalia, one of which captured him with his mother. “Her prayers keep me going,” he wrote.

Izzo, who was unceremoniously dumped by Eunice Njeri hours after getting married in 2016, has also had to cut his locks. He shared a picture of the locks.

The gospel rapper sent a message to his Kenyan fans saying, “I miss you guys and I think about you all the time. I have joined the army for a short period of time. Hopefully, by the end of this year, I’ll be back in Kenya.”

Izzo also noted he has not quit music and will be releasing his new projects in time.
