cnnWhat do you think the last thing you will ever watch on TV will be if the apocalypse is nigh?
Well, if you watch CNN, it will be the ‘Turner Doomsday Video’, and it will probably disappoint you.
Ted Turner created the Cable News Network 34 years ago, saying that only satellite issues would ever take them off air, and they will not sign off until the end of the world.

We’ll be on, and we will cover the end of the world, live, and that will be our last event. We’ll play the National Anthem only one time, on the first of June [the day CNN launched], and when the end of the world comes, we’ll play ‘Nearer My God To Thee’ before we sign off.

The video itself is proper 80s. It’s neither as exciting or as poignant as you might expect for an apocalyptic sign off. It is essentially just a band playing by a swimming pool, in terrible quality. Not even a 4K setup could make it look great.
The video has been released over at Jalopnik, and was easily found on the CNN archive under the name ‘Turner Doomsday Video’.
