The ace boys band Sauti Sol, who have been in the public eye following their major hit ‘Nishike’, are again in the lime light, this time for a totally different reason. This group decided to publicly and directly confront president Uhuru Kenyatta on his twitter handle for their unpaid dues after they performed at Kenya @50.
Dear Mr President. It has been 6 months since our performance at Kenya@50! Please pay us our dues. @UKenyatta #kenyaat50

The tweet elicited mixed reactions with some people telling the band that it was in bad taste and that social media was not the appropriate avenue for airing such an issue. Others urged them to instead take up the matter with the person who contracted them to perform.
Other than Sauti Sol, the likes of Jua Cali, Nonini, Sauti Sol , Emmy Kosgei, Suzzana Owiyo and Daddy Owen have performed for dignitaries during national celebrations and have not received their dues. The artists had earlier threatened to march to statehouse and as it looks, they are deinitely running out of patience.
Presidential Strategic Communication Unit through their twitter handle assured the band on follow up of the dues and to make payment.
@GidiOgidi @SautiSol your tweets requesting intervention on pending payments have been noted and we are following up, we will revert
