The rate at which celebrated Kenyan female singers are turning over a new life is at an all-time high! Just days after we told you about Amani’s salvation, it has emerged that songbird Marya has joined the bandwagon.
Just like those who have seen the light before her, the “Chokoza” songbird has been missing in action for a while now.
Her five-year hiatus from the music scene has seen her settle down with her boyfriend, Kelvin Mutisya. They have been blessed with a one-year-old son, Mark.
While a Marya comeback has been highly anticipated, it seems it won’t be in the secular scene. The singer is said to have given her life to Christ a few weeks ago during a service led by Pastor Robert Burale.
In a video doing rounds, Marya is seen giving her testimony in front of a church congregation.
“I got saved 2 Sundays ago. I want to experience God, I have received so much advice and I decide to take this step, take this journey.”
Before this confession, Marya gave the clearest indication she has turned over a new leaf with spiritual posts on Instagram.
One of her most recent reads: “I have learnt the power of prayer… Many laugh at me but I have seen his miracles and his love. I pray every day because the Bible says we have to be patient. God hears all you have to do is believe.”
Marya now joins the growing list of musicians who have made the switch, that includes Size 8, Wahu, Cece Sagini, and Amani.
