Woman Pleads Guilty To Chopping ‘Oversleeping’ Husband’s Genital

A woman has pleaded guilty to severing the external genitalia of her husband.

Ms Angel Mutuku was charged before a Mombasa court on Monday, where he admitted causing bodily harm contrary to section 251 of the penal code.

According to the prosecution, Mutuku assaulted her husband Stephen Ochieng Oyuga in Magongo area on February 16.

Mr. Oyuga is currently admitted at Bomu Medical Centre, where he is receiving treatment.

According to Changamwe police statement, trouble started at 5:30 am, when the wife slapped her husband in the back, accusing him of sleeping for too long.

“The complaint was a sleep at around 05:30 hrs when his wife slapped him on the back and started accusing him of sleeping for too long,” reads the police statement in part.

The angry husband reiterated by slapping her back, for ‘waking him roughly’.

Ms Mutuku then went to the kitchen and came back with a small kitchen knife which she used to commit the deed. She then left the house for her place of work, leaving her husband writhing in pain.

According to the report, she also called Oyuga’s brother to take him to hospital.

The trial magistrate directed that she be detained until Wednesday when prosecution is expected to read facts of the case and possibly prefer fresh charges against her.
