No sooner had Abdul Juma ventured into music than he quit saying he is not an artiste.

Diamond Platnumz’s father was all the rage in East Africa after making what was perceived to be his big debut in music. But in an abrupt turn of events, Mr Juma says he featured in the song dubbed ‘Umenitaka’ as a favor to upcoming musicians Sungura Madini, Promis Nyota and Blod Gaz.

During an interview with Tanzanian publication Yo Fave, Juma alias Big Lion vowed to never sing again.

“I will never sing again. My cameo in the song ‘Umeniteka’ was a one-off thing. I just wanted to support the composers of the song,” said Mr Juma, who noted that he used to sing a long time ago.

“That song is not mine. The other artistes who featured in it, own it; they toiled to put it together. They had, on different occasions, asked me to feature in one of their songs so as to give it a boost, given the popularity of my son [Diamond Platnumz]. I agreed, but kept on postponing until recently when I accepted to feature in the video,” added Big Lion.

The father-of-four noted that he has not earned any money for the feature.

“I have not taken any penny from them for that cameo. My key aim, however, was to have them get a breakthrough that they desperately needed,” said Mr Juma.

Juma also thanked Diamond for supporting him and offered to feature in his son’s music videos should he [Diamond Platnumz] need him.

“His mother [Sanura Kassim] called me yesterday [Wednesday] and told me she was so happy for me. She even called me a superstar, and went ahead to tell me that the song is great,” said Mr Juma.
