Governor Obado Forced to Skip Raila’s Event in Migori County

April 5, 2019

Migori Governor Okoth Obado will today, April 4, skip an event that is to be presided over by his party leader Raila Odinga due to circumstances beyond his control.

Raila is scheduled to officiate the groundbreaking ceremony of a Kenya Medical Training College in Awendo, one of eight constituencies in Migori County.

The embattled governor cited a court order that limits his movement.

During a presser yesterday, Obado said;

“I would have wished to join Raila Odinga and the people of Awendo in the commissioning of the KMTC… unfortunately, the orders given by the court in the Sharon Otieno murder case bar me from stepping into Awendo town because of its proximity to Homa Bay County.”

The Migori County boss, however, expressed optimism that one day he will have his freedom to access every part of his county and beyond.

Last October, the High Court set tough bail conditions for Okoth Obado to adhere to. He is not to set foot anywhere less than 20kms from his deceased lover Sharon Otieno’s county of residence Homa Bay.

“The accused shall not go anywhere within 20kms of Homa Bay County boundary from all sides. The court will be at liberty to cancel the bail if this and other restrictions are broken,” Lady Justice Jessie Lesiit ruled.
