A middle-aged woman was almost hit and run over by Mike Sonko’s car Wednesday as she scrambled for handouts from the governor in Embakasi.
The Governor had just attended the start of a 100-day Accelerated National Immunization Campaign that was launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta at the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (Kemsa) Warehouse.
Shortly after the end of the function and as Sonko was preparing to leave, a group of Embakasi locals milled around his car seeking cash handouts.
Sonko, living up to his reputation, started dishing out bank notes as his driver began to drive off. In the ensuing melee, a woman who was a little late to the party tried to keep pace with Sonko’s Benz but lost her balance and went tumbling down on the ground.
She fell inches away from the front wheels of Sonko’s car before a man who was part of the crowd came to her rescue and helped her get back on her feet.
