A businessman in Nairobi’s Kamukunji area has moved to court seeking justice after he was beaten for having an affair with another man’s wife.

Stephen Macharia, 23, has sued, Raphael Mbithi, 27, arguing that he attacked him when he was having a good time with a ‘barmaid’ and beat him up, leaving him with “grave injuries”.

According to Macharia, he had met the woman working as a barmaid at a local night club where he had gone for a drink.

He told police that he seduced and won her heart and they struck a deal to go have a good time later in the night.

After the barmaid’s shift ended at around 1.00am in the morning, they left for Macharia’s house as they had agreed. But midway, the woman changed her mind and asked to Macharia to go to her house, which was nearer.

The woman assured Macharia he would be safe as her husband, a businessman who is ever traveling, was away.

However, unbeknown to them, the husband had returned and was fast asleep in the bedroom.

Macharia testified that they made out in the living room before moving to the bedroom where they woke up the woman’s husband, Mbithi, who gave him a dog’s beating.

The suspect is also accused of stabbing Macharia in his lower abdomen using a kitchen knife.

Macharia was rescued by neighbors who rushed him to a nearby clinic for first aid before he was later transferred to the Kenyatta hospital.

Appearing at the Makadara Law Courts last week, Mbithi denied the assault charges and was released on a cash bail of Sh30,000.

The case will be mentioned on August 11.
