They say that in politics there are no permanent enemies. And that public feud does not necessarily translate into personal hatred.
But I think whoever said that did not have President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho in mind. The two seem to really hate each other, and have exchanged insults in public many times.

Their relationship is going to be tested again tomorrow as the Mombasa Governor promised to attend the launch of the Standard Gauge Railway. President Uhuru will lead a delegation of government to Mombasa tomorrow, from where they will take a train to Nairobi to officially mark the start of the SGR service.
Speaking at the Jacaranda grounds in Nairobi on Sunday, Joho said that he will be attending the launch in order to take the government to task over the cost of the project.
The last time the Mombasa governor tried to attend a presidential function, he was prevented by police. It remains to be seen whether this will be the same fate to befall him.
