A 30-year-old mother of two was on Wednesday gang-raped and killed on her way to her business premise in Mlolongo, Machakos County.
Esther Mwongeli left her rental house at around 5 am and was headed to her business when she was attacked by a gang who reportedly raped her in turns by the roadside.
The gang also made away with her personal effects before hitting her on the head with a blunt object.
Residents have decried rising crime rates in the area, which they blame on a gang of teenage youth.
Athi River OCPD Sharma Wario said investigations have been launched and promised intensified police patrols in the area.
