KFCB Fails in Having Kenyan Gay Music Video ‘Same Love’ Banned on YouTube

May 5, 2016

sameYouTube has finally acted on the controversial Kenyan gay music video dubbed ‘Same Love’ by Art Attack, but not in the way Kenya Film Classification Board would have wanted.
The video sharing platform has marked the video as being potentially inappropriate. Upon its release in February, Kenya Film Classification Board wanted the video banned completely, arguing that homosexuality is illegal in Kenya.
YouTube has instead flagged the video. A warning message on the website reads, “The following content has been identified by the YouTube community as being potentially inappropriate. Viewer discretion is advised.”

The video, however, plays after the message has been displayed.
During the World Press Freedom Day Celebrations, Mr Mutua said Youtube had flagged down the music video as inappropriate, according to the board’s request.
Well, he is not fooling us, everyone knows that he wanted a total ban on the video. If one kissing scene on the Coca Cola ‘Taste The Feeling’ commercial was edited out for being inappropriate, YouTube’s flagging of ‘Same Love’ cannot be counted as a win for Ezekiel Mutua and KFCB.
It is a fail!
