It was a sad Sunday for the music world as Congolese Rumba star Papa Wemba collapsed and died on stage.
The 66 year old, slumped on the floor as dancers continue to perform in Abidjan. The video of the exact moment has gone viral on social media.
Papa Wemba has produced hit after hit since 1969 when he came into the music scene.
Real name Jules Shungu Webadio, he also inspired a cult movement known as the Sapeurs whose members, young men, spend huge amounts of money on designer clothes.
He was widely recognized as one of Africa’s all time greatest.
