One of the arguments put forward by the consortium of the three main local stations in their fight against GOtv and Startimes is that a digital license should be given to locals and not foreigners.
Nation Media Group chairman Wilfred Kiboro was last week on TV emphasizing that point and his anger towards the ‘foreigners’ was clear.
Startimes is owned by the Chinese while GOtv is mostly owned by South Africans.
What Kiboro did not tell you is that even his own Nation Media Group cannot proclaim itself to be truly local. The Aga Khan is a majority shareholder.
