2014 is Lupita’s year. From her supporting role in 12 Years a Slave, she has achieved what many seasoned actors can only dream of. She became the first ever Kenyan to win an Oscar and the seventh African. Leonardo dicaprio, Will Smith, Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt have never won the prestigious award.
Following her win, congratulatory messages have not stopped coming. From President Uhuru, to Peter Kenneth, to Kerry Washington, Oprah etc.
Here are some messages from Kenyan celebrities.
I met her two years ago when I was Auditioning for MTV SHUGA,which I got a role of supporting character, and you would always see the determination of greatness,on her face, before akue na nywele alikuaga na Kipara, and thats when i mentioned her on my song Swag,if you’ve been listening btwn the rhymes.Getting to the top should be a priority, but being aware of the reason for getting there should be the focus,You can go with an empty pocket and come back heavily loaded if you allow your passion to escort you.
Hard work sends your opponent a message. It says you’re not talented enough to win on intrinsic merit alone
