The two were aboard a modern coast bus from Nairobi when the accident occurred. Cannibal told The Star that the driver was trying to overtake another vehicle near Salama when they landed in a ditch.
“The driver lost control of the bus as he attempted to take the vehicle back to the right lane, but he did it too fast and the bus collided with the vehicle he was trying to overtake. It was then that the bus rolled.”
Cannibal was thrown out of the bus through the front windscreen, sustaining serious arms and head injuries. “For me I had some nasty cuts on my legs and back. We were rescued and taken to various hospitals before being discharged. But we are still going for wound redressing” he added
Fatigue could have played a part.
“At Athi River, I heard him make a phone call to his reliever driver telling him to pick the bus at Makindu since he was tired, having driven all the way from Malaba,” he stated.
We wish him a quick recovery.
