Anyang Nyong’o – Lupita Has Made Me Proud

Lupita Nyong’o has won a Critics Choice award as well as get nominated for an Oscar. She has also become a darling of Western media due to her fashion sense.
“We are very happy. I think it has been a big reward to her hard work and commitment to theatre since she was a child,” said an excited Professor Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o in Nairobi.
Professor Nyong’o, who was an actor himself, said that Lupita is a sign that when one is focused, chances are that they will succeed. “I have been a member of the Phoenix players for dog years and before a member of the Donovan Maule Theatre (the precursor of Phoenix Players),” he recalled.
Police had raided his room in 1977 and took away copies of original poetry which were never seen again, so he is happy with the enormous support that Kenyans are giving Lupita. “I am very happy with the support that Kenyans have given Lupita. Social media is awash with goodwill messages and celebrations toward her achievement,’ said a proud Nyong’o.

Her last action in Kenya was in Shuga: Love Sex and Money – an MTV Drama on youth, HIV and Aids.
Last October, at the Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood California, Kenyan silver screen superstar Lupita Nyong’o received her first ever major Hollywood prize in her sterling role in the Steve McQueen’s direction 12 Years a Slave.

Since then there is no stopping for Lupita as nominations awards come one after the other.
What’s more she’s taken the red carpet fashion by storm being voted the best dressed in nearly all the US capital red carpet receptions. A week ago she rocked with her Red Ralph Lauren cape dress to a great acclaim.
Lupita will go a long way to show that there is really world class talent in Kenya.
