Some University of Nairobi students have formed vigilante groups, with an aim of stopping rampant clothes’ theft.
The thieves are said to target ‘designer’ clothes and shoes drying on hanging lines. The practice has become so bad that some victims, especially those who wash all their clothes at once, have been reduced to university paupers.
“We have now been reduced to washing clothes and sitting around until they dry,” said a third year student.

Now, the vigilante groups have put thieves on notice, and they are determined to ‘weka tyre’. They are taking turns to guard the clothes lines, and those in classes can have a peace of mind.
