If you read Nairobi Wire, you probably already know that musician Bensoul(Benson Mutua Muia) is preparing to leave the nest that is Sol Generation.

While Bensoul did not disclose when his contract with the Sauti Sol-founded label will lapse, one of his mentors says he still has some months left.
Bien Aime Baraza also disclosed that another Sol Generation signee, Nviiri the Storyteller, will ultimately leave the nest. He said Bensoul and the ‘Pombe Sigara’ hitmaker will go solo in 2024 and 2025 respectively.
“They still have time with our record label. They are our babies and we are working on their individual albums before the end of the year,” he said.
Bien at the same time said Sauti Sol has been working on their next signings for two years.
“It’s usually a journey to identify and decide who to sign. We have been working on our next signees for about two years. We go to their shows and a lot of other things. We don’t just pick anyone to sign,” he said.
Bien also noted that Sauti Sol will continue to offer support to signees after they leave Sol Generation.
“We don’t want to hear about people we have helped leaving the industry after they leave our record label. We will keep in touch with them even after they leave.”
