The United Kingdom High Commissioner to Kenya Jane Marriott has started saying her goodbyes as her tenure comes to an end in June.

The UK government confirmed her exit and appointed Desmond Patrick Neil Wigan to replace her.

Ms Marriott took to Twitter to say she will miss Kenyans after four years of service.

“After four amazing years, my time in Kenya is up in June – I will miss Kenya and Kenyans enormously. Make sure to follow my successor @FCDONeilWigan – look out for more soon on what we achieve together, #tufaulupamoja. I’ll be popping up in another role in July,” the envoy tweeted.

The UK government, in a statement posted on their website, said Ms Marriot will be transferred to another Diplomatic Service appointment.

Her successor, Neil Wigan, has been serving as the Ambassador to Tel Aviv, Israel since 2019. Before that, he was the Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office (FDO) Director in Africa from 2015 to 2018.

Wigan also served as the Ambassador to Mogadishu from 2013 to 2015.
