DP Gachagua Clarifies On Sh3000 Hair Allowance For Wife Dorcas

March 10, 2023

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has cautioned Kenyan men against using his remarks to deny their wives an allowance.

Speaking during the relaunch of the Women Enterprise Fund a week ago, DP Gachagua said he gives his wife Dorcas Rigathi Sh3000 to do her hair.

The DP noted he was lucky to have a wife without extravagant needs.

Gachagua has now come out to clarify that he did not mean Kenyan men should give their spouses Sh3000.

“I didn’t say you should give your wives Sh3,000 for hair; pea mama ile mmezoeana. Stop misusing my statement,” said Riggy G.

The DP said couples should maintain an amount that works for them.

“I said I give Dorcas 3K ya salon because she is a pastor and hana mambo mingi. If you were giving your wife 10K do not withdraw. Give her what you are used to,” he said.

Gachagua further joked that it is against the law to withdraw spousal benefits.

“The Constitution does also not allow one to withdraw benefits.”
