City Man in Court For Threatening his Mother, “Nitakukatakata kama mboga”

March 30, 2023

A 24-year-old man has been charged in a Nairobi court for allegedly threatening to kill his mother.

Ethan Chege allegedly issued death threats to Anastacia Ndunge at her house in Ruai within Njiru Sub County in Nairobi on March 6 this year.

The court heard that the accused uttered the words, “nitakukatakata kama mboga (I will cut you into pieces like vegetables)” to his mother, words which the prosecution believes were death threats.

On the said date, Chege is said to have returned home and found his mother with other relatives and told them that he did not want to see anyone around.

He allegedly threatened his mother before disappearing, forcing her to flee her house and seek refuge in her neighbour’s house.

Ms Ndunge reported the matter to the police and rented a house elsewhere fearing for her life.

In court, Chege was also charged with creating a disturbance in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace contrary to Section 95 (1) of the Penal Code where he is accused of chasing Ms Ndunge from her home on the same date.

He is also facing charges of having narcotics contrary to Section 3 (1) of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Control Act of 1994 after he was allegedly found with bhang worth Sh4,900 at the time of his arrest on March 24.

Chege denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Agnes Mwangi.

He was released on a bond of Sh200,000. The case will be mentioned on April 25 before the hearing starts on September 20 this year.
