An 18-year-old boy is facing court charges after he sneaked into a girls’ high school in Nyeri on Monday night.
The boy, a Form Four student at the nearby Gatugi mixed-day school, was caught after he was spotted heading to the girls’ dormitory at around 11 pm.
Dressed in the uniform of the girl’s school, the boy joined students as they were retiring to bed after night preps. He is said to have asked one of the students the whereabouts of his ‘girlfriend’, raising suspicion.
The school’s matron said the student realised he was not female because of his deep voice.
Confirming the incident, Othaya Sub-County Police Commander Robert Kibuchi said the school’s night guard arrested the boy.
The suspect was found with pieces of clothing stuffed in his bosom, a mobile phone, and three condoms.
The police boss said the boy claimed that he had been invited to the school by his girlfriend over an ‘unspecified business’.
“He has not disclosed any information about the girl as he is trying to protect her. We are yet to confirm who invited him,” Kibuchi said, adding that they suspect this was not the first time the boy had sneaked into the school to visit the ‘girlfriend’.
“We have found a broken fence at the girls’ school’s playground and we believe that is where he penetrated to access the school’s premises,” he said.
Kibuchi said the boy studies at a day school three kilometers away and lives next to the girls’ school with his family.
Police plan to present him in an Othaya court today and have him charged with committing a felony.
