Court Told How Women Refused to Pay Sh147,000 Bill and Insulted Revellers at Black Stars Lounge

Two women were arraigned at the Kibera Law courts for allegedly refusing to pay a bill amounting to Sh147,000 at the Black Stars Lounge in Nairobi’s Kilimani area.

Senior resident magistrate Renee Kitangwa heard that the duo, Delilah Raila and Evy Cheptoo, obtained credit under false pretenses.

Delilah and Evy are said to have consumed top-shelf liquor and expensive food at Black Stars on Sunday, March 6.

The court heard that drama started at around 2:30 am when the drunken duo became unruly.

They allegedly insulted one Gregory Nzamba of Black Stars Lounge and other revellers at the restaurant. This earned them a second charge of creating a disturbance in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace.

The court heard that Delilah and Evy insulted Nzamba while declaring they would not pay the Sh147,250 bill.

“When Nzamba asked them to calm down and verify their bill, they told him off,” reads part of the police report.

Even after they had sobered up, the suspects declined to pay the bill and were reported to officers at Kilimani police station.

Delilah and Evy both denied the charges and were released on a cash bail of Sh30,000 each. The case will be mentioned on March 24.
