Miguna: I Looked and Found No Evidence That Raila Has a Degree from Germany

November 3, 2021

The issue of Raila Odinga’s academic qualifications always finds a way to come up every election.

It is publicly known that the ODM leader undertook the latter part of his education in East Germany, having been transferred from Maranda High School. First was at the Herder institution, before receiving a scholarship in 1965 to study Mechanical Engineering and Welding at the Technical School, Magdeburg (now part of Otto-von-Guericke University).

Former Raila ally Miguna Miguna however has a different take on the matter.

He says that in 2009, he visited the Registrar’s Office at the Otto-von-Guericke University, seeking to validate the publicly available information. However, nothing came up.

The only records of Raila available at the institution, according to Miguna, are two music festivals which he was in attendance.

Chief: I visited the Registrar’s Office at the Otto-von-Guericke University in 2009 and searched for any credible evidence that Conman @RailaOdinga graduated with a degree – any degree – but there were only records of him having attended two African students’ music festivals,” he tweeted.
