18 officers working at the Devolution ministry have contracted the coronavirus.
The Ministry’s Principal Secretary, Charles Sunkuli, in a memo on Monday said tests were done on 128 samples on July 23, with 18 turning positive. He ordered the 18 to self-isolate for two weeks until Augst 16.
They are expected back in the office on August 17 for another round of mass testing.
This comes as Kenya’s COVID-19 infections rose to 22,597 after 544 more patients tested positive on Monday out of 2,653 samples. The 544 include 499 Kenyans and 45 foreigners composed of 315 males and 229 females aged between one year and 84 years old.
The number of recoveries stood at 8,740 after 263 patients recovered, 176 of them under home-based care and the remaining 87 discharged from various facilities across the country.
Fatalities shot to 382 after 13 more patients succumbed to the virus, 10 of whom had underlying medical conditions.
