Residents of Mbooni, Makueni county are still reeling from the shock of a horrific suicide by a middle-aged man on Wednesday.
The man, identified as Mutunga Kimonyi, is said to have locked himself in the house before taking his life. His family discovered his lifeless body on the floor of his house through a window.
They alerted the police who rushed to the scene at about 1 pm.
Confirming the incident, Mbooni East OCPD Agnes Omojong said police gained access to the house through the roof.
“We found a blood-stained kitchen knife beside his body. The police gained access to the house through the roof,” Omojong said.
The deceased’s employer, Marrieta Mwikya, said: “He woke up, finished some duties I had assigned him and went back to his house. We got curious when he overstayed,” Marrieta Mwikya, the farmhand’s boss said.
Police said they are working to establish why Mutunga killed himself
The deceased’s body was taken to the Makueni Level Four hospital.
