Comedian Owago Onyiro wants a hasty return to Kenya as he continues to experience a culture shock in East Asia.
Owago, who is one of the more successful comedians in the Kenyan industry and can now afford to travel around the world, arrived in China on Sunday, June 3.
He is on holiday in Guangzhou, a sprawling port city northwest of Hong Kong on the Pearl River.
The former Churchill Show comedian has been documenting his trip to China on Instagram. In one post, he wrote: “Wacheni Mungu aitwe Mungu,” with the hashtags #HolidayInChina #TheProdigalSon.
However, it was not until he went shopping for supper that he realised his holiday might not be as rosy as he’d expected.
“Kumbe ni ukweli Python ni chakula China. Leo ndio nimejua sijui,” lamented Owago as he shared a video of himself at a Snake market in Guangzhou.
In another post, Owago who is accustomed to the more familiar Kisumu delicacy of Tilapia and Omena, joked that he wants to return to Kenya asap lest he starves.
“Wacha nijikaze nirudi kwetu haraka aki. Huku naona nikilala njaa kila siku.”
