With just one week to the election, the police are not taking any chances with the security of key people involved in the managing of this important exercise.
Yesterday, IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati‘s security was beefed up with 6 more police officers and 2 chase cars. This increase will see him receive protection round the clock until after the completion of the voting exercise.
The latest addition to Chebukati’s security came on the same day the commission’s ICT manager Chris Msando was found murdered.
Msando went missing on Friday, and on Sunday his body was found in Kikuyu with arms chopped off. It was taken to City Mortuary where family members identified it yesterday.
It became clear to the police that top commissioners needed to be protected and accounted for at this critical time.
